Commitment Day 7

Committed to Feeling Love… even When You Don’t Feel Loved.

Yesterday was a weird day for me. I mean it started as usual. It probably even sounds normal: I woke up (and that’s a gift from God), went to church with my fiancĂ© - which I love, we shared lunch at his parents’ house with his brother and girlfriend –love them, then I went to work with my man (yes, it’s football season so he works EVERY day including Sundays but since Sunday is injury call it isn’t counterproductive if I join him), following that we attended life group. It was a good Sunday…

Only somewhere in there something just didn’t feel right. Ever have those days? I mean you’re surrounded by amazing people but feel alone… or you have awesome plans but no desire to see them through…

Now, a huge issue I have is when Christians sit around and talk about how their week was ‘just another week’ or ‘kinda boring’ and it rubs be the T-Total wrong way!! We are born again as Christians! We have New Life! The Holy Spirit LIVES IN US!!!

Isn’t that enough to be excited about?! Shouldn’t that turn our ‘kinda boring’ in to complete excitement?

As a church body lately we’ve been hearing sermons and discussing the lies that the devil wants us to believe and the Truth that Christ wants us to stand in. When the preacher first began this series he brought to us common lies the devil wants us to believe. That we are unworthy, unchangeable, unloved, unheard, and unseen.

Well…let me tell you! Yesterday was a feeling ‘un-something’ kind of day. I have been struggling with feeling relevant in my job, feeling valued by other people, and feeling passionately loved by those I passionately love.
In my bible study this evening I was reminded of this very important truth:
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

In those times you feel unworthy, unloved, alone… know this Truth: Christ who IS Love will never leave you.

I am committing to feeling Love (to feeling Christ, knowing He IS Present) even when I do not feel loved.

What lie does the devil whisper most to you? How can God’s love help you realize the Truth from that lie.

Five Minute Fridays

Five Minute Fridays is where Gypsy Mama ( click here to visit her blog ) encourages everyone to write for five minutes. No edits. No over analyzing (which is the direct opposite of how I work and that's why I participate so I can get out of my comfort zone, learn, and grow). You can join too! Just write (or think) for five minutes. Today's topic is 'unexpected'. Unexpected Unexpected can be so good…. Like when that kind person at the grocery store with a full cart lets you in front since you only have a handful of items… Or when your friend calls you out of the blue just to say hey…. When you receive a gift just because…. Those kind words from the person you had no idea you meant anything to or even had an affect on… People can do things so unexpected. Then, there’s God. I know He is the Creator of everything. He loves unconditionally. He provides all things. God will never leave us or forsake us. God is always with us. God always has a plan. Still, when Go...

Steadfast Love

In the last few weeks, I have been struggling… I can see all the ways God blesses me. All the ways He provides. I know in almost all my posts since I started writing on this blog about two months ago have been about how God takes care of us. I’m telling you it is like an annoying habit! You focus for just a few days on what God’s provided for you, and then it becomes a constant way your mind works. (It’s kind of like how people are doing 30 days of thanks on Facebook. I know it seems redundant and maybe even a little annoying to you, but you see for those people posting daily status updates on thanks has become a habit. A way of life for them.)           So, what’s my struggle? It is about love. Do you ever wonder about love? Why does your friend love you when you know your singing gets on her last nerve? Why does your significant other love you when you would rather recount your entire d...

Tired - Competition

That was it. I was tired. Not the tired where I will sleep well because my rest was well earned. Not the tired where you’re groggy and just need extra sleep. The restless tired. The dangerous tired. The ‘I am done with this!’ tired. Why? I was tired of competing with multiple screens: a TV, an ipad, 2 phones. Tired of competing with every professional and college sport broadcast – with the exception of women’s sports because we don’t get those on our TV. Tired of competing with presidential news and daily “to do” list that have more weight than US (as a couple). Tired of there always being one more chore before that project I want to get to can be started. Tired of the same ol' same. In the end I was just tired. Tired of a world where we have to compete for a loved one’s attention. Tired of competing with society’s mandates. Tired of being a slave to fashion and trends. Tired of competing with society’s warp version of pretty. Tired of competi...
