Five Minute Friday

It's that time again. Time to write for five minutes with no edits. Today's topic: Finish.

Finish

He who has begun a good work in you is faithful to finish it. Is a clipping of a bible verse (Philippians 1:6), and what I first think of when I hear finish.

Finish for me is a verb. Finish can easily be related to having the perseverance and courage and heart to complete a task, a journey, a decision, a calling…Here I think about Paul’s words and encouragement to run the race and live for Christ.

Often times in life tasks, decisions, and day to day ramblings the finish line can often be out of view… Some worthy projects and responsibilities have little to do with me completing them. This is why I am so comforted by the verse from Philippians. God is faithful to complete me. It is not up to my own ability but in God’s.

So, today I want to challenge you with this idea: Nothing can be ‘finished’ without starting. There is not end without beginning. A runner racing towards the finish line had to have started…
Starting can often be the hardest part. Sometimes starting is exciting…but the grind of continuing on in what was started is all but debilitating… To this I encourage you to remember that God will finish the work. We just need to be willing to start the race…to run with endurance for our Heavenly Father and allow Him to finish.

    I believe you worded that last paragraph very well and there is no stronger will to begin something new than knowing He will be there to guide you and help you to the finish.

Steadfast Love

         In the last few weeks, I have been struggling… I can see all the ways God blesses me. All the ways He provides. I know in almost all my posts since I started writing on this blog about two months ago have been about how God takes care of us. I’m telling you it is like an annoying habit! Tired - Competition

That was it. I was tired. Not the tired where I will sleep well because my rest was well earned. Not the tired where you’re groggy and just need extra sleep. The restless tired. The dangerous tired. The ‘I am done with this!’ tired. Why? I was tired of competing with multiple screens: a TV, an ipad, 2 phones.
