Commitment. To see a list of all posts by day click here.
Committed
to Who You Are
Who
are you? No, really. It’s a question. Please consider it.
Are
you still reading, friend? Please stop and think about it. I’ll wait on you…..
Perhaps
when you first read the question ‘Who are you?’ several nouns ran through your
mind: Christian, daughter, mother, father, son, brother, sister, friend, worker
bee, athlete, writer, business owner. Or maybe your brain was descriptive and
lots of adjectives came up: I am funny, thoughtful, driven, ambitious, focused.
Depending upon what type of mood you’re in or how hectic your day has been,
your thoughts may range more along these lines: I am tired, scatter-brained,
stretched too thin, unsuccessful, klutzy, frustrated, unchangeable, broken,
unloved.
Psst!! Friend,
let me share this truth with you: You are a marvelous work of God wonderfully
and fearfully made! (Psalm 139:14) The Creator of the universe made you! He
loves you and wants you to be His. For those of us who have accepted Christ and
are children of God we are a NEW creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). “Christ in you,
the hope of glory” Colossians 1:27
Now, I
want to ask you again… Who are you?
Better
yet who are you committed to being?
Are you who Christ made you? Or are you
focused on the lies the devil would have you to believe?
I struggle sometimes
with who I am. I am sure anyone who is honest would admit to that. I also find
the closer I am to God the less I struggle to answer the question of who I am.
The Bible talks about that too! “What shall we say in response to these things.
If God is for us who can be against?...No one…Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ?...in all these things we are more than conquerors through
Christ who loved us...nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from
the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:31-39
We are
conquerors! We are loved.
So,
who are you committed to being?
Love this post! (And I have been loving that video lately, too.) I've thought a lot lately about how figuring out who I am has so much less to do with the person I've been and so much more to do with the woman I want to be...who God calls and equips me to be for His glory. Thanks for sharing, Rebekah!
