Never enough money....

Never enough.

Modesty vs. Model Appearance

A young friend of mine recently shared on Facebook a post that addressed how strict clothing rules for young girls particularly those in a Christian school are ‘set up’ for a huge learning curb and frankly at a deficit once those young women reach college. (The article written by Jory Micah goes on to correlate policing girls' and women's clothing to rape culture in the church and society.) Although I may not agree with every word in the article, I am glad to have read it. I see the validity that is presented. Having grown up in a modest home and attending a public school, I believe I faced the back and forth of expectations between a Christian environment and a secular one early on in life…

As I read comments and opinions on the article and my friend's Facebook post I began to wonder: Why do we feel as a society there has to be such a stark difference between a modest appearance and the look of a model.  Actually, the first connection I make when I hear ‘model’ is model Chr…

If I Had the World's Attention

If I had the whole world’s attention for just one day… I’d teach them about Christ and how He lights my way.
If I had the entire world’s attention for just one day… I’d share with them the fire the Lord instills in me. I’d demonstrate all He asks me to be I’d tell them how His Holy Spirit radiates thru me.
If I had the entire world’s attention for just one day… I’d share with them His love, His devotion, and how He is THE way. I’d share with them the love Jesus provides to the less fortunate, the mercy He grants to each of us, the grace he gives to all, the forgiveness he desires for each of us to receive.
If I had the world’s attention even for just one day… I’d ask them to rise early and to pray. We would pray for each one who does not yet know Him. We would pray for those who have found Him but have gone astray. We’ll pray for those who are down trodden that they may not know He will carry them. We’d pray for those who know Him but are going to be tried today. (Tried in ways that will tempt t…
Wearing a Mask

People outside of the church think church go-ers are hypocrites.
Preachers ask church members to be real with one another and to those who come to the Lord’s house to worship.
Leaders in the church ask church members to step up and participate in groups, get to really know fellow church members, and reach out a helping hand to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Paul had to write to Timothy and remind him to not be fearful or timid, to not be ashamed of his testimony about God, and to remember the Holy Spirit gives us a spirit of power, love, and sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Scripture says to confess our trespasses to one another and to pray for one another (James 5:16).
Somehow we all still treat church as a place ‘to go’. A place to go dressed up in our very best clothes with fake smiles and false ‘I’m doing well today’. We do this all to hide the ‘worst’ of our selves. The part of ourselves that we’re afraid others may not like or understand. We cover up our struggles. We h…
