Five minute Fridays are the opportunity to share thoughts and write for five minutes without edits or too much analytical thinking. The prompt today is the word: same.
'Same'
The
same but different…
Like
Day and night…
Like
the Ocean to the desert…
Like
sweet to salty…
Good
vs. bad.
Flesh
vs. spirit.
As
a twin I grew up with comparisons…. A question I am still asked: Are you and
your sister the same?
My
goodness I know what they mean when they ask… but how silly is that question…
are we the same?
Are
two drops of rain the same?
Are
two flowers the same?
Are
two mountains the same?
Are
two snowflakes the same?
Are
two stars the same?
Same-ness
can be flattering such as being Christ-like.
Same-ness
can be freeing as we try to relate to others
But
oh my how dangerous being the same can be…
I
don’t believe God calls any of us to be exactly the same… Yet, we seem to
struggle the most when we have differences with one another…
I’m
so glad He calls us to fellowship with those who are of the same likeness as
Jesus… but when it comes to the ‘same’ that’s where I want to be – the same as
Jesus!

I pray your weekend is full of wonderful Christlike sameness... as well as His divinely created differences.
it is easy to assume that just because people look the same that they are the same! big mistake isn't it? nice to meet you rebekah:) i'm martha. looks like we're at opposite ends of the marriage spectrum! i'm having my 47th anniversary in another week! my 3 daughters are grown and all married. 2 of them are in their 40's! i have 7 grandchildren. i can tell you the time has flown!
