Never Enough

There are never enough hours in the day.
I never have enough help.
We never have enough _________.

If each of us is honest with ourselves we have probably said a few of these statements before. A common argument of young children when they want something is to complain about never having it. ‘We never have pizza’ even though they had pizza for dinner 3 nights ago. Adults do it too. When was the last time you heard a co-worker say 'we never have enough time to complete a project', or maybe you have recently said that you never get enough sleep?
We don’t just talk about never having enough. We think it too. We see someone with a nicer car and think our reliable car isn’t enough. Then, we hear about lavish trips friends take and think we will never make enough money to travel like that. We hear of someone receiving a promotion or a better job and think our position, or title, or responsibility isn't enough. In thinking that we never have enough, we miss out on what we do have. We don’t realize all the possessions and blessings we have that others can only dream about having.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
Don’t just read that scripture. Let it soak into your soul. . .'where your treasure is, there your heart will be also'…What do you treasure? Where is your heart? There are two things I treasure so dearly – faith and grace. I could truly never have enough. Could you?

Five Minute Fridays

Five Minute Fridays is where Gypsy Mama ( click here to visit her blog ) encourages everyone to write for five minutes. No edits. No over analyzing (which is the direct opposite of how I work and that's why I participate so I can get out of my comfort zone, learn, and grow). You can join too! Just write (or think) for five minutes. Today's topic is 'unexpected'. Unexpected Unexpected can be so good…. Like when that kind person at the grocery store with a full cart lets you in front since you only have a handful of items… Or when your friend calls you out of the blue just to say hey…. When you receive a gift just because…. Those kind words from the person you had no idea you meant anything to or even had an affect on… People can do things so unexpected. Then, there’s God. I know He is the Creator of everything. He loves unconditionally. He provides all things. God will never leave us or forsake us. God is always with us. God always has a plan. Still, when Go...

Steadfast Love

In the last few weeks, I have been struggling… I can see all the ways God blesses me. All the ways He provides. I know in almost all my posts since I started writing on this blog about two months ago have been about how God takes care of us. I’m telling you it is like an annoying habit! You focus for just a few days on what God’s provided for you, and then it becomes a constant way your mind works. (It’s kind of like how people are doing 30 days of thanks on Facebook. I know it seems redundant and maybe even a little annoying to you, but you see for those people posting daily status updates on thanks has become a habit. A way of life for them.)           So, what’s my struggle? It is about love. Do you ever wonder about love? Why does your friend love you when you know your singing gets on her last nerve? Why does your significant other love you when you would rather recount your entire d...

Five Minute Fridays

I follow several blogs, but there are only a handful I read daily including Rainmakers and Stormchasers, http://www.jennyrain.com/ . Jenny has a blog friend who does Five Minute Fridays where you write on a given topic for five minutes, post your writing unedited, and encourage others to do the same. Today’s topic was 'Remember'. Here's my unedited five minutes on 'Remember'...(What did you do on your lunch break?).... Remember...  I remember those times… with family and friends… Those long seemingly endless summer days at Memaw’s with my sister, brother, and cousins…I remember waiting on mom to come in for lunch…And those special days when Aunt Barb came too…Oh the days we spent at Aunt Barb’s…I remember loving… Then, there were those mornings before school where we all gathered around the breakfast table…Memaw always prepared a feast…we would argue over who’s turn it was to say the pray…but I remember all the other conversations were so good…I remember ...
