Never Enough

There are never enough hours in the day.
I never have enough help.
We never have enough _________.

If each of us is honest with ourselves we have probably said a few of these statements before. A common argument of young children when they want something is to complain about never having it. ‘We never have pizza’ even though they had pizza for dinner 3 nights ago. Adults do it too. When was the last time you heard a co-worker say 'we never have enough time to complete a project', or maybe you have recently said that you never get enough sleep?
We don’t just talk about never having enough. We think it too. We see someone with a nicer car and think our reliable car isn’t enough. Then, we hear about lavish trips friends take and think we will never make enough money to travel like that. We hear of someone receiving a promotion or a better job and think our position, or title, or responsibility isn't enough. In thinking that we never have enough, we miss out on what we do have. We don’t realize all the possessions and blessings we have that others can only dream about having.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
Don’t just read that scripture. Let it soak into your soul. . .'where your treasure is, there your heart will be also'…What do you treasure? Where is your heart? There are two things I treasure so dearly – faith and grace. I could truly never have enough. Could you?

Stay and See Jesus for Yourself

Recently during our Wednesday night women's class, we were listening to part of Priscilla Shirer's portion on the DVD series 'Unwrap the Bible'. We hadn't yet made it all the way through Priscilla's portion when I noticed myself writing these words in my notes, 'Stay and See Jesus for Yourself'. Now, I won't steal Priscilla's thunder or her great points. (I couldn't do it justice.) Let me just say, those words I wrote seemed to leap off the page at me: Stay and see Jesus for yourself.
